It’s been a long time since i blogged about my world so here we go .
I have recently put the finishing touches on the ‘ Cartwheel’s ‘album which we recorded in 2 weeks solid .
It’s a great country album featuring some excellent playing and performances. No click tracks , no auto tune & not many over dubs . It was as honest a session as it gets these days.
Also i have been working with Grant Fraser once again . This time one his ‘ Rembrandt’s ghost ‘ short film . It is a collection of Grant’s poems imagining the ghost of Rembrandt walking around the museum inspecting and sharing thoughts on his paintings . The music is a kind of cheeky Baroque if you get my drift .
Another project i have been working on at the moment is TOP SECRET apparently . I have invited Pete Farnan to collaborate with me on this one . We are writing the opening credits sequence / song for a soon to be released show ( sorry that’s all i can say without getting castrated )
Finally – The pleasantville album 2 which i thought would be all done by now has been pushed back but i’m pleased to say that Michelle and i are on the case and cutting tracks again.
here is a taste of a brand new song . It’s as humble as pie and as sweet as honey . I hope you like it .
This song was written by an old friend of mine ( Cass Anderson ). She called me up out of the blue one day and asked if i could produce a couple of songs for her .
I had known her for 20 odd years and didn’t know she wrote songs . Not only that – she writes great songs . I played the instruments and her son Kitt made the clip . Enjoy .
The last episode of wentworth series 1 ends next Wednesday night 8.30 on SOHO.
It’s a massive episode with a wild ending . I kept it simple and powerful for the last cue – just percussion . I hope you like it .
Ps I don’t want to give anything away
Dark, sexy, wonderfully edited, with a great soundtrack and (mostly) great performances, Wentworth continues to be a winner. Tonight the action revolves around Franky (the terrific Nicole da Silva) being released from solitary. Naturally, Jacs (Kris McQuade) has a little surprise planned and the girls are forced to choose sides. Meanwhile, on the other side of the wire, Will (Robbie Magasiva) is struggling with the death of Meg and the secrets she’d been keeping. Danielle Cormack as Bea Smith continues to impress, and she must be loving such a meaty, multifaceted role. Despite the violence – and there’s often a lot of it – this is as much a story of friendship as it is enmity, and the whole package has not just the toughness we loved about Prisoner, but also genuine emotional punch.
